im trying to repair my database and when i do a message pops up saying i dont have enough disk space. ive been doing this for a few months making backup database everytime i compacted a database and never had any problems. so i tried to open up new folders and even used my desktop as a place where pt can make a backup copy but it keeps saying i dont have enough free disk space. any help?

Do you have a drive with more disk space? If so, you can use the Utilities > Compact Database Preferences window to tell it where to save the backup file.

If not, you can, with Poker Tracker closed, try repairing the database outside of PT following the steps listed here:

im still having problems. ive deleted everyprogram i have on my laptop and i still cant compact or repair my database for the simple reason i dont have free disk space to make a backup copy. pt has overran my computer because its so big. if i buy a new computer with all the disk space you can buy can i run pt on there or do i have to pay to get another pin number? i wish i could get this problem fixed but my only option might just be to delete pt altogether so my laptop is functional.

You don't have to pay to get a new code if you get a new computer.

And I also gave you a way to compact/repair the database outside of Poker Tracker so that it doesn't try to make a backup of the file first thus you won't get that message. Did you do that??

The PT database has a max size of 2gb, so even if your db was 2gb then the backup file would only need 2 gb of free disk space to make the backup. This is hardly "overrunning" your computer unless it's so old that you have a small hard drive. Any cheap new computer is going to come with plenty of hard disk space.

ok its going on a week now that i havent been able to use pt. i tried everything you said and when i do no matter what it says no free disk space. the pt is 1700mb and the biggest program running on my laptop. Its a few year old dell insprion that maybe doesnt have enough space. im willing to do anything to fix this problem. if you tell me to go buy a new computer no problem i can afford that. but i rather try and fix this. is there anyway to delete the whole database and start new? that would suck since i have over 500k in hands on there. I never had any problems until i was having some import errors. how can i delete maybe half the database to open up some disk space? any help would be appreciated. if theres no way to fix this then can you give me a link to how to move a database to a new computer.

Double-click on the My Computer desktop icon.
It will open a window that shows the free space on your hard disk drives. What is the size of the "Local Disk (C:)" which I assume is where you have PT installed.
Are there any other hard disk drives listed there? If so, what are their names and the free disk space.

it shows C drive with 1.60gb free space and D drive dvd/cd-rw

That's not very much.

Go to the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder. Is there a file called ptrack_backup.mdb there? If so, you can delete it. Make sure you then clear out your recylce bin too. Then there should be enough space to backup the db before the compact.

no its not there and i also searched for it in a search feature and did not find it.

Are there any other files in that folder with "_backup" or "_repair" in the name of the file? If so, what are the file names?

What are the largest file names in the PT folder?
