pt/postgresql error? unable to connect to server

Delete the postmaster.pid file and restart the computer.

I don't know what else to tell you. Try uninstalling PostgreSQL and reinstalling it as if it was the first time you've done it. In other words, don't point it to the old data folder like I described in the previous post, just install as detailed here

See if it can connect without looking at the old data. If it does, then I can try to recover the old data for you to restore from.

it's working now. can i just copy across the data folder?

No, it's not that simple. You are going to need to ZIP your c:\PostgreSQL_Data folder and FTP it to me so that I can try to recover the data.

I'll PM you with directions. I probably won't be able to get to it until tomorrow some time.
