OK, I don't know what any of that means, but it worked.

Thank you very much Pat. You're awesome.

If not, then I would suggest uninstalling PT3 and PostgeSQL using the Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs window.

Then delete the remnants of the c:\program files\postgesql\8.3 folder.

Download this version of PostgreSQL:
http://wwwmaster.postgresql.org/downloa ... .3.1-1.zip

Extract all the files out of the ZIP file into a separate folder.
Then double-click on the postgresql-8.3.msi file to install it.

The last part of the install is the Stack Builder application you can run. See here for what to select...
archives/PT2/viewtopic.php?t=24880

Then on the PostgreSQL Settings window in PT2, you would select "PostgreSQL Unicode" from the list.

Later, you can reinstall PT3 but when you do, you just need to do the install that doesn't include PostgreSQL because it's already installed.

I already imported loads of hands to PT3 and I dont want to do it again.
I would like to use PT with the same PostgeSQL(PostgeSQL 8.3) as PT3.
I thought I could do this using the info from archives/PT2/viewtopic.php?t=24880 but there is no "Stack Builder application" in the described place(maybe its not installed? Cant find it anywhere on the net to install it now).

Would be great if you could help me!

Read the 4th post of this thread on page #1, I detail there what to do in this case...installing PostgreSQL 8.2 to get the values to show up.

But then I would have installed both PostgreSQL 8.2 AND 8.3?

So, it doesn't hurt anything and you don't even need to have 8.2 running, just installed so you can use the ODBC entries.

Now I see...

But when I want to install it I get the error message "Invalid username specified: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." in the window Service configuration.
I tried another account name than in 8.3("postgrespt2" instead of "postgres") and a different password but still the same error.

You should be able to use another user name without a problem. Try "postgres82".
Also, when you get to the next window with a port # to use, you will have to use 5433 because the default port 5432 will be in use by PostgreSQL 8.3.

It works now.
I created a Postgres database and wanted to import my Microgaming Hands so I downloaded the SQLite 3 ODBC driver(sqliteodbc_new from this forum) but when I want to install the driver there is an error message:
"Error opening file for writing: c:\program files\..."

Try restarting the computer and installing the drivers first thing when it comes back up.

I am trying to run pt2 on a WinXP virtualbox running on ubuntu. (pokertracking software is all thats holding me back from ditching windows entirely! any tips on running pt2 and/or pt3 under wine would be appreciated, but thats another topic).

I am running postgresql 8.3.5 on the linux system, connecting from the virtualbox through network. I've been able to successfully sign in to the server and create databases using both pt3 and HEM.

When trying to setup postgres for pt2 I run into this problem with the ODBC Entry to Use field being empty.

Am I still looking at the only fix being to install an older version of the server, or is there something else I can do?
