Hi. Since I converted my databases to postgre, I can't open the ring game external window and get the error message:
--------
Error connecting to the database

101 - SQLSTATE = 08001
FATAL: role "postgre" does not exist
----------------

ideas?

Thanks.

This is PT2, yes?
I'll move this thread to the PT2 forums.

The default user is 'postgres' (with an S on the end).

Don't you get an error when you first open PT? It's weird you would get it just opening the stats window.

Go to the Utilities > PostgreSQL Settings window and the user name should be "postgres" there. Change it to this and save. Then CLOSE AND REOPEN PT and try it again.

Hi. It's PTO actually fwiw...don't think that'd make a difference tho. postgres is already my user name, but I reentered it anyway and still the same thing. And yes, the only error message I get now is when I click the spade "launch external window" button.

Open the FIle > Maintain Database Names window in PTO. Click the Add button. Enter a new description, check the "Dflt" box and then in the last field choose "Select existing PostgreSQL database" and select this Omaha database from the list.

Now click OK to save all the changes.

CLOSE AND REOPEN PTO. Now try it again and see if it works.

It asked me again for the postgres username and password. I entered them and I can now launch the external game window. Thanks.

How should I proceed from here? Can I delete the old database name and use this one I just created?

Yes, you can get rid of the old entry. But I'm not sure why it would be prompting you still to enter a username and password. If you can post this issue in the PTO forums... viewforum.php?f=34 ... so Mike can see if he has any ideas - he doesn't always check the PostgreSQL forums for PTO issues.
