i'm trying to install postgreSQL on my computer. i have followed the directions here http://www.pokertracker3.com/products/P ... nstallSQL2. i have opened the file and the postgreSQL Istallation Wizard pops up. i choose english. then i go to installation option and click next leaving everything as it is defaulted. then i get to the service configuration window and i leave everything as is but i try to choose a simple password as directed but it won't accept any of the many i tried. the directions advise not to have the password generated but i don't see an option for that anyways. if i try to just skip it it says Invalid username specified: Logon failure; unknown user name or bad password. i will not let me advance any further through the installation wizard. thanks for the help :)

I've never seen this before. Are you saying it won't even let you type in a password?? Did you enter the same password in both fields?

Does it let you enter a password or not. Please give me very specific details about what it's doing.

Are the password fields grayed out?
What are the values that default into every field on this window?
If you can enter a password, does it tell you the password is weak??

What are all the values in the other fields on the window?
Is the username defaulted to PostgreSQL?
Are you sure it doesn't tell you that the password is wrong? If it's telling you that and you had a previous failed install of PostgreSQL then you should go to the Start menu and select Run. On the window that opens, type COMMAND and hit OK. This will open a DOS window.

On the DOS window type the following...

net user postgres /delete

and hit ENTER. Then type EXIT to close the DOS window and the reinstall PostgreSQL.
