Bring-in statistics?

Postby Omaha Chris » Sun Jan 11, 2009 5:42 pm

Is there any way to query PTS for bring-in data? Some filter, or combination of filters, that would isolate just those hands?

Either way, I would like to suggest that as a dedicated filter in a new version of PTS.

I love the program, but the fact that the bring-in is stored in the player data, but that there's no way to isolate it as a stat in itself, is an annoyance. It's a trivial matter to filter PT and PTO for blinds, but not PTS for bring-in. I'd just like to get an idea of how I play hands when I get in for free/cheap, and if I might have a leak there.

Thanks in advance.

The stat is stored, but there is no specific filter in PTS for that like there is for blinds in the flop games. I'll add something do do that to the enhancement list.

That would be awesome.

Two other filters I would die for in the "Starting Hands" tab (and this would go for all versions of PT), would be simply "Won $" and "Lost $." Combining that with "Put Money In" would create a clear picture of how much one wins in the hands that he voluntarily plays and wins money, and how much he loses in the hands he voluntarily plays and loses money. I think it's very useful to look at how you're doing when totally separating compulsory bets from results. It shows exactly how much more you need to maximize wins and minimize losses in order to "beat the ante."

For anyone who wants to find the sort of bring-in information I've been talking about in this thread, I have cobbled together some hacks:

- Make a new starting hand category and name it "All Hands" (or whatever).
- In the define category window, tick the HC1, HC2, and 3rd boxes (so that all cards are selected). Make sure nothing else is ticked.
- Save the category.
- The "Times" count under the new category should match the total number of hands dealt to you. This category is going to be the whole enchilada, in other words.
- Click on the category.
- Click the "BI" column. This will sort your entire list of hands by bring-in.

You can now click "p" and then export to Excel or whatever to get a count.

Another trick:
Doing an advanced sort can show you how many times you won as the bring-in. Assuming you are sorted by BI, next click "s", double-click "Net," then "OK."

Voila, every hand in which you were the bring-in and won money.

Combine these filters and column-sorts with the "Money In" and "No Money In" checkboxes and there you go. You can find out pretty much everything you want to know about how you play when in the bring-in position.

Still hoping this shows up as a dedicated filter in the next PTS, but here is a solution for now.

Thanks for posting this. It's rare, but nice to see players sharing information about PTS.
