PT resource hogging with big imports

Hi,

I am importing a few thousand mined hands every day into my PT Stud. The problem is my PC is really slow during import ! Looking at the windows task manager I see PTS taking up between 16% and 99% of CPU, and postgres.exe taking up quite a lot too.

Is it possible to change the process priority of PTS or postgres or both, so that I can use my PC at an acceptable speed while importing hands? I don't mind if the import takes longer, as long as I can use the PC normally.

Any suggestions appreciated.

I haven't tried changing the priority myself, but I doubt it would hurt anything. Try it and see what happens. Just don't kill the processes during imports as that can lead to database corruption problems.
