Performance Issues with PokerTracker 4 on a New Laptop

Postby peridz » Sun Dec 01, 2024 2:52 pm

Hi,

I recently started using PokerTracker 4 on a new laptop, but I’m experiencing performance issues both in the interface and the HUD. Below are the details of my situation:

1. Laptop specifications:
SSD: 1 TB
RAM: 32 GB
Operating System: Windows 11

2. PokerTracker 4 setup:
Version: Latest version (fully updated).
Database size: Small, with approximately 1500 tournaments.
The program is running as administrator.

3. Problem:
The program reads or imports hands very slowly from the PokerStars hand history folder, which causes significant delays in the HUD performance.
The more tables I play simultaneously, the greater the delay. Sometimes the HUD doesn’t even appear at all.

4. Actions taken:
Optimized the database using the built-in tool.
Simplified the HUD setup to be more basic.
Verified that the laptop has sufficient available resources while PT4 is running.

5. Questions:
What additional steps can I take to improve performance?
Are there specific PostgreSQL configurations that might help?
Thank you for any guidance or advice to resolve this issue.

What version of PostgreSQL are you using?

Hello, I’m using PostgreSQL 12. Yesterday, I did a rebuild cache, and although it didn’t solve the issue the last time I tried it, I must say that this time it did. I believe the problem was caused by a specific hand history file that might have been corrupted or caused some kind of error.

The issue is now resolved, and everything is working at a speed I had never experienced before. Thank you very much!

Pleased to hear it and thanks for the update. If you believe the problem was caused by a hand history file can you please attach this hand history sample to a Support Ticket so we can investigate and fix any potential issue.
