Try:
svcPASS83
dbpass
and
postgrespass
Those are the most common defaults.

Well i managed to download postgres 9.0 on a different port 5433 as opposed to 5432,not sure how much difference this makes.
I tried a file restore but it would not recognise the archives that i zipped before or the saved database that you also has asked to do.
I just therefore now need to get my old database back on the new postgres 9.0
We are slowly getting there.

Did you make your backup via PGAdmin or PT4?

What happens when you try to restore it in PT4 via File -> Restore?

The file produced by File > Backup is a .zip file - are you sure you're looking for it in the right place? Do you remember what filename you used when you made the backup?

Yes the zip file is called postgresql-8.3-15-1-binaries-no-installer.zip
This is in my documents and on the desktop.

That is the PostgreSQL download, not a PokerTracker backup file. Do you remember what you called the file when you made the backup, and where you saved it?
