Hud "crashes!?!"

The stats just freeze and stay the same from that point and I cant be sure if these are the stats form some recent player or not.
HH-Import is sill running in the background though.
When I try to cancel PokerTracker and restart it will just freeze up when I want the HH-Import to quit
and I have to quit the program from Taskmanager.

Almost exactly as described for me too. PT4 stops responding when trying to shut down (got the Windows dialog to "wait" or "end"), the Hud had to be terminated via TM.
First time I got this with 4.05. ALSO the first time I was playing Stars simultaneously with other tables with 4.05

Hey Joel, thanks for replying to the thread. What everyone has said in the above quote is exactly what is happening to me too. (however my manual import from a folder seems to be working fine)

Basically it's like a "silent" crash, not a hard crash. It's difficult to tell exactly when it goes out but then after people start not having a HUD after a few orbits obviously I realize that it's in this frozen type state. I also need to CTRL+ALT+DEL to hard close PT4 & the HUD... restart PT4 and it seems to work for a bit longer but eventually it will repeat again. Also when it does this "silent" crash the pop up stats will not work for players who already have their on-screen stats up that appeared before the crash and remain after crash.

Also HUD seems a lot slower to load on the tables initially compared to previous versions of PT4.

I will attach some new log files to my support ticket so maybe the issue will be shown there.

As Kraada said, I haven't seen anything in the logs submitted so far to indicate what causes this behaviour so the more information we get about this the better. If you can identify when you see the problem, and exactly what indications you saw, that would really help us to build up a picture what is happening.

Hey, I don't want to sound like I'm telling you guys how to do your job, but if all those logs don't give any info, you probably need better logs or some other source of info. This has been going on at least since 4.04 came out (4.02 is working for me), there are several threads on the forum about this, luckily this thread is starting to gain the attention of many players who are affected.

The thing is, 4.04 has been out for weeks, and it's entirely possible that there are many more people affected out there: it's very easy to miss the thing ever happened if you don't use popups regularly. (So when the stats don't update, and new players come and go, you'll end up playing Mr.Nitty but look at the stats on his place that actually belonged to Mr.Laggy who was sitting there an orbit ago. /bankroll)

Since there have been so many incidents where PokerStars was involved: have you received any reports that indicate that there's no need for a PS table (even an observed one) to be present for this to happen?
I'm asking because if it's clearly about PS, I can continue using the newest PT4 for most of my play and hopefully help getting you more info. If you still can't confirm that, the next time my hud freezes I just have to go back to 4.02 or PT3, I can't stick with this version if all the sites are effected, regardless of PS.

If you guys want to run custom builds with extensive logging, I'm sure you'll find plenty of volunteers from this thread.

I agree we need more information here. The question is what information we need. We're looking into this to try to figure it out, but we need to know what we want before we can get it.

And I may take you up on that custom build with extra logging.

I tried restarting it but it didnt work. I then went back and tried using PT3 but now it wont work. (*&%^&%^&%&*^%&^$^&%$$^%$&6

I tried restarting PT4 and now it has the display missing on most players and in the wrong spot etc

How does it go from working perfectly in session to not working at all and why is my PT3 now shot?

hud started working again after restarting PT4 a second time and I've had no problems accept when I was tinkering around with my hud set up. I think when you make any changes to your hud it freezes and crashes it without any error message etc. it just starts doing weird stuff.

Hy guys,

i had the same problem like u all, i played with the hud but after some hands it feezed completely and i had to close the PT4 with help of the taskmanager.
i gave my logfiles to the support but they couldnt find a leak in my PT.
Afterwards i saw something in my HUD. When the HUD jumped from hand 15 to 16 (example) for everyone, it took longer for my own HUD, just half a second or so.
So i changed the HUD from "Show everyone" to "show everyone but hero", now it works perfectly the last days. Maybe there is a leak in the Handhistory import and the pokertracker needs to long to actualize the personal HUD so that everything gets freezed then, cause your own HUD isnt actualized.
Dont know, but with the change i made eyerything works fine the last days, except that i cant see my own statistics at the table.

kraada, definitely look at PS handling. I was playing away for quite a while with several non-PS tables open (iPoker, Revolution, Merge, Everleaf). I opened a Stars table to observe, the HUD shows up there (too), works fine. Took me a couple of minutes to notice that the HUDs on all tables were not updating. Same drill as alway, try to stop import, PT main interface is now only almost frozen (seems like I could change to "Play Poker" tab... but the main window client area doesn't update)... proceed to TM to kill the processes. I'm beginning to be quite convinced I've never seen this without a Stars table displaying a hud. Certainly not on 4.05.

If you can't reproduce, I'm happy to try with a custom build if you can build in better logging for this scenario.

I always have the "everyone but hero" in my HUD groups, although there's one group for "Hero only".
