Any reason why the PokertrackerHUD would be using 900mb of ram? I'm not sure what it normally uses, but when I checked my activity monitor it was at 900mb so I stopped the import (which obviously crashed pt4) and when I restarted it was back to ~50mb. What should it normally be around?

I must say, it is more than embarrassing. The HUD counts the hands no longer and freezes.

At best, you can switch to Pokercopilot. Everything works fine, simply but well and immediately!

Chicco -

Installing older versions of our software is never advised unless PokerTracker support asks you to do this, rolling back to a prior version could accidentally cause damage to your database that is not easy for us to detect.

PokerTracker 4 for OSX is a brand new release, it is less than 5 days old, there are bound to be bugs that are caused by regional settings we could not predict and one by one we are very quickly learning about these bugs and fixing them. Most of our users are working fine without any problems.. you are one of the remaining users with issues, but we have yet to see a support ticket from you that contains your logs so we can determine what is wrong with your setup. We want to help you, but we cannot do anything without your cooperation, the quicker you create a support ticket that has your pokertracker4.log and pokertrackerhud4.log files attached, the quicker we can help you fix the problem. Please follow these instructions for submitting a Support Ticket with your PokerTracker logs.

What site are you playing on? The HUD is working on all sites and game types that we support, are you attempting to play a fast fold game like Zoom or Rush that we do not support in the HUD? As for the Poker Copilot comment, it is like comparing a 747 Jet Airplane against a hand glider. Your welcome to switch to the hand glider if you want too... but if your patient we can help you fly in a Jet Airplane. Let us help you!

The symptoms you described are not normal for just a few tables, but for multitabling this can occur if you play enough tables at the same time. What has me concerned is not the amount of ram used, its the crash that requires investigation (unless of course you were not multitabling many tables at the same time, then both issues should be a concern). To help us determine what is wrong please attempt to reproduce this situation and then stop playing. The next step is to create a support ticket with your PokerTracker4.log and PokerTrackerHUD4.log files zipped and attached to the ticket. These two files will help us look at what is happening within your computer, this information is what we need to determine why the crash occurred.

Please follow these instructions for submitting a Support Ticket with your PokerTracker 4 logs attached.

Downloaded PT4 for Mac OS, but get the dreaded Poker Tracker has detected a permissions issue which prevents it from running. iMac, Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63) with bootcamp (Win 7)

@jgd1955: Do this below, then it should work

The permissions for /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences must be changed to 777, this is the reason why PokerTracker 4 is showing that error message, we need to be able to create the user data folder, but we cannot do this unless your permissions folded allows us to do so.

Follow these simple instructions:

1) Quit PT4
2) Open the terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal) and type sudo chmod 777 /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences. You may need to enter your administration password when you do this. When this is complete you can quit the terminal.
3) Restart PokerTracker 4.

It's my understanding this folder should exist by default - if it doesn't you'll get an error in (2) if it doesn't exist, then running this will create it:
sudo mkdir /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences

Then run the command in (2).

We support all game formats on these two sites except we cannot place the HUD on Zoom and Rush tables on the Mac. This is because PokerStars and FTP do not provide a list of the players seated at each seat before the start of the hand. At normal tables PokerTracker get its seating information for the HUD at the finish of every hand, but this is not possible with fast fold tables like Rush or Zoom. In the Windows operating system we were able to accomplish this by using information provided by the operating system, but there is no way to do that on the Mac...hence we can only support fast tables if the poker room provides us with an API or a file which determines seating as each hand starts. We have discussed this with Stars, hopefully someday they will address the needs of our OS X players. We sugest you contact PokerStars and FullTilt to ask them to provide a file that accompanies the hand history for the special need, the more people that request, the greater the chance that Stars and FTP take the leap of faith.

In the meantime OnGame has recently launched Strobe, this is their version of fast fold cash games. Strobe Poker is supported fully on the Mac because Strop Poker tables include the required extra file which determines seat positioning. We sugest playing on this site as an alternative if you wish to play fast fold games.

PS: As you pointed out PokerCoPilot has a HUD for Zoom, they accomplish this by using OCR. The problem is OCR is highly inaccurate, it just doesn't work well enough for us to consider it as an option, using OCR for online poker HUD stats is not recommended, the risk you face if the wrong player name is chosen is too great, you could be making a huge mistake in the game - this is something we are not willing to risk, we hav too many customers to consider OCR as a viable solution for supporting Zoom or Rush.
