Upgrade or new computer?

When I'm playing 12+ tables and running PT4, TableNinja, Sharkscope HUD, and the internet my computer starts to get slow. I noticed in the task manager that it would hit 100% of the CPU usage (I attached a screenshot of when I was grinding). There are a bunch of chrome.exe processes going on there. Shutting down the web browser helps but still isn't great. I got rid of as many applications on my computer that I could find that I didn't think I was using. My computer is a 2009 Asus with 4 GB of RAM and an AMD Athlon II X2 220 Processor (2.8 GHz); 64 bit.

Is there something I can do to increase it's performance? I've heard people talk about adding a SSD? I'm willing to buy a new computer if that will be the best. I would just need some advice on that then. Thanks in advance!

I've heard also that an SSD is a huge improvement. I actually just bought my first one but haven't installed it and made the general switch yet. Once it's in, I'll let you know my thoughts on how big a difference it makes.

Definitely get a new CPU before an SSD. Your CPU is very slow. Look at it compared to popular CPUs today http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu ... +II+X2+220

SSDs are great and I have one but your CPU definitely needs to be replaced before that. You even told us that your CPU was at 100%.

Makes sense, thanks Zangeeph. I found this computer: http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/ ... 26cf8een02

It has the Intel Core i7-3770, 12 GB of RAM and the AMD Radeon HD 7570 graphics card for $1000. That should be plenty for playing poker, right?

If youre going to spend $1000 on a new PC it may as well have an SSD in it. It would be best to build your own PC with an SSD, and use your current hard drive in it. Buy a 128GB SSD and install windows and PT4 etc on it, and have all your media like movies stored on the hard drive. If you do not know what makes a good pc, try looking at http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc and ask questions there. They give good advice. PT4 will definitely be faster on an SSD.

Thanks. I'll check it out. Building a computer sounds a little overwhelming though.
