Confused by position numbering in Notetracker

Hi all,
Apologies if this has been asked before, I thought I had it sussed out, but seems to me I am doing something wrong.
In notetracker, I like to keep track of the hands people opened with from EP, MP, CO and BTN.
As I understood, the SB has position number 8, the BB number 9, the Button number 0.
After that, one counts to the right and adds a number (so counterclockwise). That would mean the CO has number 1, MP has numbers 2 through 4, and EP has numbers 5 and 6.
The number 7 is not used as it is a 9 handed table. At least, that is what I understood. So I just checked, Villain opens from UTG+1 (so EP in my numbering, number 5 in this case), yet my notetracker tells me he opened in MP with AA.
So it is obvious to me I am doing something wrong, but before I screw up even more, I thought I'd ask here. Anyone care to enlighten me and tell me what positions correspond with what number on a 9-handed table? Thanks in advance.

Yes, position 5 should be EP. If you export the note definition you're using and attach it to a Support Ticket along with the hand history we'll check it out for you.
