Are you running any other antivirus software? I know that's less common on Macs but I just want to check. If you're not, then please hold alt and start PT4 and that will start it with logging enabled. Enter your code and attempt to register again. It won't work but it will generate a log file in ~/Documents/PokerTracker called PokerTracker4.log. Please attach that to a support ticket and we'll look into what is going on here further for you.

No antivirus software.

I did as you advised kraada: PT4 said PokerTracker logging was enabled, registration code was deemed invalid etc but no filed called PokerTracker4.log can be found on the computer. I can only find PokerTrackerHud.log in ~/Documents/PokerTracker. I take it that's not what you're after?

No, that one isn't it. Can you get into PT4 though? You can also enable logging via Configure -> Options -> Logging Enabled and restarting PT4.

Yup I've got the trial up and running. I tried enabling logging as you suggested via Configure > Options and restarting but there is still no log file to be found.

Hi,

I am in a similar situation as madsenma.

(I've previously installed PT4 on a PC successfully.)

I've tried installing PT4 on my mac with similar results as for madsenma.
I can only run the trial since PT4 doesn't accept the registration code.

I don't get a logfile either even though PT4 says logging is enabled. PT4 version 4.07.4.

Both of you:

Have you tried running Repair Permissions in Applictions -> Utilities -> Disk Utility?
If not, please try that.

If you still have problems with the license please follow these directions too:

1) Quit PT4
2) Open the terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal) and type sudo chmod 777 /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences. You may need to enter your administration password when you do this. When this is complete you can quit the terminal.
3) Restart PokerTracker 4.

It's my understanding this folder should exist by default - if it doesn't you'll get an error in (2) if it doesn't exist, then running this will create it:
sudo mkdir /Users/Shared/Library/Preferences

Then run the command in (2) again.

Support managed to help me with this issue.

First, to locate the log file, in PT4 you can go into File > Open User Data Folder and this will bring you to the folder containing PokerTracker4.log

Turns out my problem was that multiple registration keys were logged. So I had to open the user data folder as above, open PokerTracker.cfg in the Config folder with TextEdit, find the "RegistrationCode=" line and delete everything after the equals sign on that line. Restarted PT4, reentered my code and now works a treat.

Thanks alot for posting this! This solved the problem for me too.

Regarding how this might have happened (the only thing a mac newbie like me I can think of):

I remember trying to copy and paste the registration code into PT4 first (from My Account on the PokerTracker website) without succeeding (the registration field still was blank after the paste attempt).
So I then typed the code manually instead.
