Poker Tracker is using 95-100% CPU on MacBook Air

Postby bojama2006 » Wed Jul 10, 2013 11:26 am

Hi,

I made the update to the newest version of Poker Tracker 4.

Now when I'm playing and use "get hands while playing", my MacBook Air suddenly boosts the ventilation system and the activity is around 100% CPU

It even makes one tableing stutter.

If I close all poker sites it's still running like crazy, for about 25 minutes now.

I did a complete housekeeping, rebuild the cache, checked imported hands (all hands imported) and note tracker (notes are 100% finished), also closed it and opened it again and shut down and reboot my computer...nothing changed.

I don't know what else I can do, please help, because this way, I can't use Pokertracker while I'm playing.

Please restart PT4 using the logging enabled link on your Start Menu, reproduce this problem and then report it via our support system with the log file - that will help us figure out what is going on here and get it fixed for you. You can find that file by clicking File --> Show User Data Folder in the main PT4 window - the file we need is the text file called PokerTracker4 that is in that folder.

Once we have your logs we'll be in a much better position to figure out what is going on here for you.

I finally solved the problem myself...

I normally save all my Poker files on a SD-Card. A few days ago I hadn't it with me. So i opened
a new Hand History Folder on my Hard Drive.

I forgot to delete it afterwards.

So "get hands while playing" was searching to many folders i guess.

Now that i deleted it, the activity of PokerTracker is back to normal.

I hope my experience might help other users, if they somehow make the same I did.

I also want to thank the Support Team for their time and effort.

I think I face the same problem. My Mac can't handle PT combined with some tables running. Everything gets laggy. I save my HH in a folder on my desktop because PT couldn't autodetect the folders. I manually set it up and it works, but laggy with PokerStars....

Could it be that I saved the programs on my SSD and it is full now?

How large is your database (it says in Database -> Database Management), and is your NoteTracker caught up with all of your hands (it says in Tools -> NoteTracker)?

Why do you do this?

I just rec'd a MacBook Air for Christmas and I've been worrying about the space it will take on this smaller computer. My database management says it's 2534 MB. Should I anticipate any problems using PT4 on the MacBook Air?

Thanks in advance.

How many hands do you anticipate importing? The database only grows as you import data. Our rule of thumb is that it's roughly around 1G for every 100k hands you import.
