New HDD - Restored from time Machine - PT not working

Hi guys,

I had a HDD failure on my imac (OSX.75) and just had a new one installed. All my data was backed up with time machine and has been moved to the new HDD. I can see the PostgreSQL database is there on startup. When I try and start Pokertracker however I get an error message.

Unable to login to database (postgres). Reason: could not connect to server. No such file or directory is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket "/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432"?

I'm guessing since it's a new HDD all the info is there but the pathway to it has changed so PT doesn't know where it is. What should I do to get this sorted? Not really sure where to start don't want to fuck anything up. Thanks for your assistance!

I'd start by re-running the PostgreSQL installer just to make sure everything is set up properly. It can't hurt and it has a reasonably good chance of fixing things for you.

Ok thanks. But How do I reinstall it? Do I need to delete Poker tracker entirely and go through the entire set up process from the beginning? And then hopefully it will find my existing database?

No, just run the PostgreSQL installer - available on www.PostgreSQL.org. Be sure to install the same major version that you already have - PT4 installs 9.0 by default, so that is probably what you have.

If you're not sure what version you have installed, follow this portion of our uninstall/reinstall guide to find out.
