PokerTracker

Installed PT4 and running version 10.10 of OS X.
Every time i try to start the application it prompts with the following:

"PokerTracker needs to reboot your computer so that the new system configuration will take effect.
Reboot Now?"

Done this now 5 times and it still comes up.

Can someone help please?

You will need to install PostgreSQL manually on Yosemite for the time being. We recommend PostgreSQL 9.3 which you can download from this page.

Hey guys,

Apple announced that Yosemite will be out later today. I like to be an early adopter but can't risk to make PT unusable. Can you assure me that all I have to do once Yosemite is installed is install PostgreSQL 9.3 over the previous one and everything will fine? If not, could you please post a step by step? I'll take the next two days off and could use the time to set it up properly.

Our testing has not shown problems, but if poker stability is critical for you I'd recommend waiting until next week sometime just to be certain.

Just to be clear. If I decide to take the plunge, will 9.3 be necessary? If yes, just installing it without doing anything else is enough?

If you take the plunge the version you should install is the same version you currently have installed. If you have 9.0 installed now and install 9.3 later it won't be able to read a 9.0 database.

I also strongly recommend making a full PT4 backup before upgrading -- then no matter what you'll be able to get your data back. You can find our backup guide here, and this will function differently (and for our purposes better) than Time Machine as you'll be able to restore a database backup anywhere in any version of PostgreSQL that is supported.

Thanks a lot for the detailed explanation. I already have the Time Machine backup ready in case I need to get back to Mavericks and will take care of PT DB backup before I install Yosemite. I have 9.0 so I'll stick with it and hope it works.

We have just updated things and PT4 will now install PostgreSQL 9.3 for you automatically on Yosemite.

I've also been told that 9.3 is required on Yosemite.

Either way, the most prudent thing to do is to make sure you have a PT4 backup including databases before making major changes to your system.

Thanks for the info.

I made all the backups and installed Yosemite. When I ran PT it didn't ask me to install a new PostgreSQL version. Are you talking about fresh installs only? Because I tested it on a Play Money table and everything worked but I still have 9.0.10 installed. FYI, I just installed Yosemite on top of Mavericks.
