thanks for the reply. i've checked that and it says has my timezone as 'US/Eastern', which is correct. i reinstalled postgreSQL 9.3 and i am still having the problem where it puts my time 4 hours ahead of what it actually is. any other things i could check?

What site do you play at?
Are the times correct in the hand histories?

WSOP NJ

no, they don't. they show the same time that PT shows, i guess its a wsop problem. so now i guess i have to figure out why the hand histories are all wonky.

Thanks for the update. We've recently become aware that 888 are writing the incorrect time in their hand histories on Mac and we have contacted them about this, but I don't think they've responded yet. We hope that this is something which 888 will be able to fix on their end because since they don't write the timezone in their hand histories we need to be able to rely on the time zone used being consistent (they're supposed to be in local time).
