unable to create postresql database error

Pt4 froze during the installation of the postgresql database i was forced to restart my comp, now every time i launch PT4 i get this error:
unable to create postresql database: PT4 DB Reason: Unable to login to database (template 1). Reason: could not connect to server: No such file or directory Is the server running locally and accepting connections on Unix domain socket “/tmp/.s.PGSQL.5432
PokerTracker cannot operate without a PostgreSQL database. This might be a firewall issue. PostgreSQL requires network access even with a localhost server.
I could not re-install postgresql using this guide https://www.pokertracker.com/guides/PT4 ... gresql-mac.
for every version of ls /Library/PostgreSQL/ i type it keeps coming up with 'no such file or directory'.
how do i re-install ?
