Think my Mac has done an auto install update. Next time i tried to open PT4 it wouldn't load. I get the following message:

Postgres still showing in my Application folder.

Any ideas what the best way to get it up and running again? As i say, had been working fine. Never had an issue after previous updates so not sure whats caused this issue.

Open Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal and copy/paste this:

sudo rm /Library/PostgreSQL/9.3/data/postmaster.pid

You want to delete "postmaster.pid" so answer "y" if the command finds it. Next reboot your computer and then try starting PokerTracker 4 again.

Apologies for the slow, i've been away for a few days. I've tried what you suggested however the file postmaster.pid doesn't exist.

Open "Applications -> Utilities -> Console" - do you see any errors relating to PostgreSQL there? Next go to "Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal", type the following and hit enter then paste the output here:

ps -ax | grep -i postgres

No sign of any errors relating to PostgreSQL on Console that i could find.

Is the code meant to be typed as one line? If so, outcome is:

Yes it is. That command is to see if the PostgreSQL service is running and with nothing returned it looks like it is no longer running/installed. You can follow this tutorial to uninstall what's left however you should note that some of those steps in the tutorial may produce something like "not found" - it's likely that will be OK but don't skip any of the steps. This also means you will need to start a new database and reimport your hands. Once PostgreSQL is fully uninstalled you can manually download and install PostgreSQL 9.3.15 from here. Using a Mac administrator account or administrative privileges install that PostgreSQL and for the password boxes use "dbpass" (no quotes) which is what PokerTracker 4 uses by default. Once PostgreSQL installs successfully reboot your computer and then try PokerTracker 4 again.
