Trying to Restore A New Database

Postby thesiswriter » Tue Feb 04, 2020 3:05 pm

Hello,

My original database was titled "Anya PT Database", and included data from only the $10 NL stake. For the purposes of the dissertation I am writing, I also needed data from $0.1 NL stake games, which I then uploaded to a totally new database. I renamed both "$10 NL PT Database" and "$0.10 NL PT4 Database" respectively.

I have now realised that both of those databases contain exactly the same data, all from $0.1 NL stake games - it seems that when I uploaded those hands it has completely overwritten the $10 NL hands as well, even though they were in completely different databases and I unchecked the overwrite options.

I am now trying to restore my backup of the $10 NL hands to get that database back, into the database titled "PT4_2020_02_04_170843". However, when I go to restore, it says I only have 1 database (titled "Anya PT Database" - the name of the first original database) when I have now created 4. I have attached screenshots to demonstrate what I mean.

Please could you tell me why I seem to be unable to restore datasets into new databases?

Thank you,

Anya

Databases have two names - the first is the name displayed in PokerTracker 4 and the second is the name used in PostgreSQL. In your database management window both your Anya databases (10NL and 0.10NL) are both using the exact same PostgreSQL database (PT4 DB) under the 'Database' column so that's only one physical database on your computer and why the data is the same.

After selecting a backup file for restore you will only see the database(s) available in the backup file. After selecting a database to restore if both database names are unique from all existing databases then the backup will restore separately from them - there is no need to restore to an existing empty/new database. If there is a clash in one or both of the database names between the backup file and existing databases then you will be offered the option to overwrite, rename or skip. If there are clashes in both names for example and you only rename the PokerTracker 4 name and then click 'Overwrite' then the database will restore and you will be left with two entries in your configuration despite there being only one physical database.
