I only play ring tables. I usually play 6 tables. I have been watching these threads as they go and occasionally get errors too. If you like I can start logging and sending the last few debug lines after crashes too if you think it will help.

OK, that brings up another interesting thought. Is anyone that is getting this message playing ONLY ring games - NO TOURNAMENTS at all?

I ask this because the file DrUwe sent me imported fine for me. But in looking at the file and when it crashed on him, it came at the end of the file AFTER he busted out. So I'm wondering if they are doing something to these files like detroitkid mentioned, that is causing this to happen.

If anyone is getting this error with ring games too, can you confirm that it happens shortly AFTER you leave a particular table?


As far as I call recall, the access violations have been randomly occurring during ring-game play and not after leaving a table. I just restart PT and things go on for awhile with no problem. This would seem to indicate that the thing causing the access violation is transient in the environment, e.g. internal buffer usage size or conflicts with something FTP is doing. Since these files are opened and being actively written on by FTP, what is to prevent PT from obtaining an incomplete hand history, e.g., and depending upon that maybe some weird things could happen: an unexpected end-of-file condition? Not sure of the logic you're using here, but if your code expects the hand history to be in the same condition at time t0 and at a later time t1, clearly that might not be the case; this could lead to logical anomalies in your code.

It's been that way for a long time. If you have $120 at a 1/2 NL and leave, you can't jump back in with $40.


This is a new policy with respect to limit games, I'm sure. I don't ever remember being warned when coming back to a table that I had x amount of dollars previosly at that table and that that would be the minimum amount I could start with. I noticed this only after the update.
I don't play NL, so I can't speak to FTP's policy there.

On the other hand, it is only during this fiasco that I may have left a table and tried to get back to it in a short time... so maybe it has been the policy previous to this update. But I know I've been able to delete older hand histories while the FTP client is running with no problem in the past and can't do so now.

What I am doing is making a copy of the hand history file before PT processes it. The file will be called "DUMMY_" followed by the rest of the name FT has assigned to that file and it will be in the c:\program files\poker tracker v2 folder (or wherever you installed PT).

If the import is successful, this file will get deleted. However, if you get an Access Violation error then BEFORE YOU OPEN PT AGAIN, send me the DUMMY file using the online support system... ALSO, if you would attach the log file called autoimplog.txt, also in the PT2 folder, that would be great. Here is a link...

This should give me a file that was in the exact state it was in when the AV error happened. The problem I am having is that people are sending me their files and they import just fine for me. So hopefully, this new change I made will do away with the problem all-together or at least provide me with a file that I can use to reproduce the problem.

UNFORTUNATELY I AM LEAVING FOR A FAMILY REUNION GATHERING IN A LITTLE WHILE AND WON'T BE BACK UNTIL LATE TONIGHT so I'll look into any issues then.

"There is no need to revert back. If you convert these files to ANSI then the "C" patch will import them just fine."

Pat, I went back and tried it several more times. I let the timer run on auto import, and when it triggers, it goes straight to the error message and terminates. It doesn't import anything. (and I did convert the files to ANSI) Am I doing something wrong? After reading 14 pages of this post I'm sort of in sensory overload. Only thing I can say that might help is the files are not dated today.

What is the error message? The access violation error?

What is the error message? The access violation error?

I was wondering if this is considered fixed or is it still being worked on. The idea that I have to manually convert all files and have no hud is not an appealing one. Support has still not been able to link my PAH purchase so I don't get that discount, so I'm looking at paying about $25 dollars more for PT3 of Holdem Manager. Is there a reason I should do this? I have used your software for 5 years, but am feeling pretty neglected and left in the dark. What would you suggest I do?

I play only ring games and it has nothing to do with leaving a table as far as I can tell.

Tried the debug3 exe, but it also fails at some point. Last line in log is: "Before FromUnicode function ...". How about some debug output inside the FromUnicode function?

Pat, could it be that the error has nothing to do with FT doing something weird with the HH files? After all, some people here mentioned that PT crashed without FT being open after all. Maybe the error results from some stupid side-effect from hacking in the unicode conversion? Have these functions been part of PT before? Are they in use for importing other sites? Just thinking...

Pat is working on the problem. You should be grateful he is still supporting us at all.
