First, export the old hands using Database --> Database Management --> Export ... which has a date filter (so just use Before april 1). Then use the Purge... option on the Database Management window to remove hands from the database.

last Q - promise.

I exported hands since june onto new DB, so can I just purge these from 1st database and move them back some time if I want to??

It also saved the exported hands to hard drive - assuming I dont want to move these again, can I just delete them?

sorry not not understanding basic stuff

You'd need to reimport them later if you purge them now, but you can certainly do that if you would like. If you purge them, and delete the hand histories without importing them somewhere though, you will lose that data permanently. Assuming you reimport them somewhere (so you could export them again later if you wanted), you can certainly get rid of the text files if you'd like.
