Please see [url=http://www.pokertracker3.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=790zoy]Attn: Vista Users Installing PostgreSQL 8.3[/urlzoy] stickied at the top of the forum.

Try manually installing PostgreSQL 8.2.6 and see if that works. Use the same username/password's that you entered during the failed installation.

right i tried doing what it says in that post again.

1st problem i get is on this page
[url4yv]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f297/toms789/5.jpg[/url4yv]
i type in the password (i have tried postgres as password). i get "invalide username specified: Logon faliure: Uknown username or bad password" no matter what i put. When i change the account domain from TOM-PC to something else i can push next. It asks me if i want to create the username (i click yes) and if i want it to generate a stronger password (i click no).

This is the next screen and i enter postgres as a password and click next.
[url4yv]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f297/toms789/6.jpg[/url4yv]

I then click next through verything else and it starts intstalling it gets to the creating useraccount stage of installing and brings up this message.
[url4yv]http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f297/toms789/7.jpg[/url4yv]

I don't really know what postgres is so i could be missing something really obvious unknowingly.

Go Start->Run, 'cmd' OK. Then type the following at the command line:

[codepci]net user postgres /delete[/codepci]
Then try reinstalling and you should not have any problems.

OK that worked! but now i got a new problem after installing postgre it opened up stackbuilder so i just closed it then opened pokertracker

it asked me to create a DB and this happened when creating it

EDIT:
On the create DB bit i clicked on browse DB and the DB i just tried creating was in there so i chose it and clicked connected and it worked. I now have the program running. Will the earlier problem effect anything?

You need to run the StackBuild and install the latest ODBC driver.

It should be available under Start->Programs->PostgreSQL->Application Stack Builder
