Try a reboot - that often fixes this sort of thing.

If it still won't connect after that try stopping the service: Start > Programs > Postgres > Stop Service; then run PT3 again which should start the service back up.

Did you update any firewall or antivirus software?
Try disabling your firewall temporarily while you start up - some of them prevent PT3 or postgres running properly.

I'm experiencing the same problem right now. I just tried to re-install PostgreSQL with your tutorial, i shut down my firewall but it still doesn't work. What else can I do ?

PT3 was running without any problems since I purchase it last week until I tried to play at my University on its Wi-Fi... Is there a link ?

Playing at university shouldn't have had any effect unless they enforce any addtional security software on your computer?

If you Start > Programs > Postgres > Start Service then look at Task Manager > Processes do you see any postgres.exe processes?
Please select the last few files in C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\data\pg_log (they're dated so just pick the recent ones), right-click and choose 'Send To Compressed/zipped Folder', then attach the zip file to a ticket on the Support system, and link to this thread in the reference field of the ticket so that we can investigate.

most of this is french to me...I'm really trying to figure out what wrong by reading, but only finding parts of what I'm experiencing, so I'll just ask here.

I have downloaded PT3. I downloaded the postgresql (or at least thought i did) and a window came up stating, after some time, that I am running postgresql already (windows Vista).

I looked up the dbpass pass word and logged that in, and now i get a window popping up saying: "unable to connect to database. please check configuration". Then another window pops up that states: "postgresql please use main MSI file to install". what and where is an MSI file? Please explain in lamens terms if possible? Thanks!

That means you used the wrong type of Postgres installer - please follow this guide to re-install it correctly.

I'm having the same problem (as I just sent you in a ticket), but I wanted to note that the link above is to postgres 8.3, not the newer ones, and they seem to open differently- i.e. there's no zip file- it just opens automatically and the process is different than the pictures in your tutorial.

Postgres 8.4 works correctly as far as we know, but we haven't done any thorough testing of it yet so the guides still refer to 8.3.
As I understand it you need to use the pg-installer to update postgres rather than the one-click Enterprise installer.
