Error on launch of PT3

Postby zdarma » Fri Aug 07, 2009 6:30 pm

I ran PT3 today and upon the splash screen disappearing, I got a message from windows (Vista) that an error occurred and would I like to close the application or search the web for a solution.

I then tried to install the latest patch, but am still getting the same error message.

I've rebooted the computer, but am still getting an error message.

I checked the eventvwr and this is the msg I get:

Faulting application PokerTracker.exe, version 3.0.0.502, time stamp 0x4a7b8512, faulting module PokerTracker.exe, version 3.0.0.502, time stamp 0x4a7b8512, exception code 0xc000008e, fault offset 0x0020f920, process id 0x1ac4, application start time 0x01ca17ad76299883.

The only difference in error messages between upgrades is the version number 3.0.0.501 before the latest patch and then after the patch, as the error msg above shows, it becomes 3.0.0.502

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

I would like you to perform a COMPLETE uninstallation of PokerTracker, but DO NOT UNINSTALL POSTGRESQL.

The files you need to backup in PT3 are (If you have made any customizations to PokerTracker):
C:\\Program Files\\PokerTracker 3\\Data\\layouts.pt3
C:\\Program Files\\PokerTracker 3\\Data\\StatDefinitionsCustomized.pt3
C:\\Program Files\\PokerTracker 3\\Data\\ReportsCustomized.pt3
C:\\Program Files\\PokerTracker 3\\Data\\Config\\Buddies.cfg
C:\\Program Files\\PokerTracker 3\\Data\\Config\\PokerTracker.cfg

PT3 moves processed hand history files to the folder defined in 'move processed files to' on the auto import tab and we recommend that you keep a copy of these files too - they will compress pretty well and won't take up too much space.

After you remove PokerTracker from the 'Add/Remove Programs', also delete the C:\\Program Files\\PokerTracker 3 directory.

Now, please reinstall PokerTracker 3 - Build 5.2 with your Firewall/Anti-Virus/Anti-Spyware software disabled.

When you install PokerTracker and run it for the first time, you should be prompted to create a new database. This is where you will attach your previous database to your new PokerTracker install. Check the 'This database already exists checkbox, and then click the blue link 'Browse Databases'. After selecting your database, everything should be completed.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!

Regards,

Matt

Thanks for the quick reply.

I did it and am still getting the same error, after the splash screen disappears.

Any other ideas?

Didn't reboot, after the last install and launched PT3 immediately upon the completion of the installation and received the error. I have since rebooted and it seems to launch fine now.

However, the HUD does not appear on the table. I am testing PT3 on a tournie table on PS. I can see the hands being imported and I have checked off the "Start Automatically".

Any ideas?

Please check the PT3 HUD FAQ and if you still have problems after that you can submit a Bug Report so that we can check your configuration and troubleshoot the issue.

I finally got the HUD to work properly yesterday. Not sure why it wasn't before, but I didn't change anything to make it work suddenly.

However, once again, I am getting an error as soon as the splash screen disappears. Telling me that PokerTracker has stopped working and would I like to close the program or search online for a solution. I looked in the eventvwr and it is the same error msg as I quoted above.

I can't keep uninstalling and re-installing PT3 everyday. Do you have any other ideas how I can fix this problem?

Thanks in advance

EDIT NOTE
I just ran a few tests in PT3 . After the splash screen disappeared, I clicked with my mouse around PT3, including the menus at the top, the find button, mine button and the other buttons in that area and I did not get an error msg, but as soon as I clicked on one of the the tabs in PT3 or the settings button, I received the error msg that PT was no longer working. I was able to do launch PT3 times to do these tests before I got an error msg as soon as the splash screen disappeared. I now constantly get the error msg as soon as the splash screen disappears.

I think I've found the solution to my problem.

I tried to think of what had changed on my system between the last time I ran PT3 when it was working and now when I get the error on launch. The only thing I could think of was a small program that I had installed to capture streaming music over the net. I killed the process for the application and now PT3 seems to be working like a charm. I remembered yesterday, I had killed the application at one point and PT3 was working correctly, but this morning when I booted up my computer the app. started automatically and so did the errors on the launch of PT3. Killing the process again this morning seemed to allow PT3 to run correctly.

The app. I installed is called Freezer. So, if anyone else has a similar problem to what I had and has this app. is installed, I would suggest killing the app. and then running PT3. Not sure why the app. was causing the problem or if it really is the source of my problem, but everything seems to be running fine now. I've been able to launch PT3 at least a dozen times without so much as a hitch.
