I stumbled upon a hand that has been calculated incorrectly:

***** Hand History for Game 8263017678 *****
$25 USD NL Texas Hold'em - Tuesday, July 21, 18:29:59 EDT 2009
Table Table 126649 (Real Money)
Seat 4 is the button
Total number of players : 6
Seat 6: BB ( $5.16 USD )
Seat 2: HERO ( $28.68 USD )
Seat 5: SB ( $25.10 USD )
Seat 4: BTN ( $7.04 USD )
Seat 1: UTG ( $25.82 USD )
Seat 3: CO ( $37.33 USD )
SB posts small blind [$0.10 USD].
BB posts big blind [$0.25 USD].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to HERO [ 6c 6d ]
UTG raises [$1 USD]
HERO calls [$1 USD]
BTN raises [$1.75 USD]
SB folds
BB folds
UTG calls [$0.75 USD]
HERO calls [$0.75 USD]
** Dealing Flop ** [ 7h, 9h, 8s ]
UTG could not respond in time.(disconnected)
HERO checks
BTN is all-In [$5.29 USD]
HERO calls [$5.29 USD]
** Dealing Turn ** [ 4s ]
** Dealing River ** [ 5d ]
UTG shows [ Qh, As ]high card Ace with Queen kicker.
HERO shows [ 6c, 6d ]a straight Five to Nine.
BTN doesn't show [ Ac, Jd ]high card Ace.
HERO wins $10.06 USD from the side pot 1 with a straight, Five to Nine.
HERO wins $5.32 USD from the main pot with a straight, Five to Nine.

The program gives me an EV of +3BB, and I have no idea where that number comes from.
Clearly, the problem lies in the 3rd opponent being disconnected, so there should be side
pot calculations. They are not there, even though it is correctly assumed that HERO has the
equity of 50% (and it is between 3 opponents).
Please take a look into this.

Hi, I'm a new PT3 (and holdem luck) user, so forgive me for looking like a newbie.

Very well done developing this alonalbert.

Forgive me for being a bit lazy not wanting to look through all 401 replies to this thread, but could someone please list what known issues there are in the EV calculations of this application? Are there any known ones at all?

I saw the guy above me posted a hand history with issues, didnt look closely at it. I also got one to add where it calculates the equity wrong.

- UTG sitting in seat 1 with $12.95
- HERO sitting in seat 2 with $28.53
- BTN sitting in seat 3 with $9.01 [Dealer]
- SB sitting in seat 5 with $0.70
- BB sitting in seat 6 with $9.35

SB posted the small blind - $0.05
BB posted the big blind - $0.10
** Dealing card to HERO: A of c, A of h
UTG called - $0.10
HERO raised - $0.60
BTN folded
SB went all-in - $0.65
BB called - $0.70
UTG folded
HERO called - $0.70
** Dealing the flop: 10 of d, 10 of c, 3 of h
BB checked
HERO bet - $1.20
BB folded
** Dealing the turn: 6 of d
** Dealing the river: 2 of d
SB shows: 9 of d, 8 of d
HERO mucks: A of c, A of h
SB wins $2.09 from the main pot

The 4way pot with the shortstack (who ends up being my only villain at showdown) all in preflop seems to be causing issues. He's all in preflop, but the equity is calculated as if he would be all in on flop. My equity in holdemluck is shown as 91.2% (which would've been my flop equity vs 9d8d preflop), where it should be 77.4% preflop according to pokerstove.

Maybe it would be a good idea to put a list of known calc issues in your first post. (again, if there really are any known ones)

Thanks again for this great, and FREE, addon. :)

edit: btw, does this app take into account how much, and where the money goes in? e.g say 90% of stack goes in on flop and the minor rest on turn, would it calculate it as all in on turn or would it take into account most of the $ would go in on flop (and keep the flop odds in the calculation as well as the turn odds) and villain is more than likely comitted on turn? or would it suffer from the same calc issues that HEM's EV calculations suffer from, say you are far ahead on flop and have 95% of your stack in, then a horrid turn card hits which makes you drawing dead but obviously there is no turning back. here HEM would make the calculation as if all your $ went in on turn, and you EV 0 which makes it very misleading. is this the case with holdemluck?

thanks and regards.

To my knowledge HoldemLuck just takes the pot and multiplies by equity and doesn't take into account where the money went in.

I can't speak to the potential bugs; we'll need to wait for alon to check in on the thread.

Also Alon any chance you could find a solution to the SNG Luck recalculating problem I mentioned on page 39?

Thanks

Hi

Just trying to get a hang of this.

I have been feeling really loosing so many All ins while infront villain "always" cathing up and while behind "never" cathing up. Doesn't matter if I'm short or Big, SB/BB or raising it up in front or calling SB/BB or calling with a good range thought behind it (i.e. villain being 55/35 spewing chips). Does this comply with the graphs or have I just been running overly lucky and now it's cathing up with me?

The first graph shows my entire DB.
The second one this last month.

What more can i juse this tournament luck tool for?

You should post your graphs in BBs too, just $ doesn't really tell us much. Also what kind of tourneys are you playing? Looking at the graph I would think they are all SNGs and no MTTs.

But you've been running good overall and that small downswing in the last month isn't really anything strange, it's just bringing your red line a little closer to the neutral zero line.

Hi. I just downloaded the software and been tinkering around with it a little bit. How do I post my graphs in BBs too? (n00b allert :D )
It's all DoN's.

If you go to "View" you'll see "Big Blinds" which you can check and uncheck to give you the graph in dollars or BBs.

If they're all DoNs, life has been good to you!

For some reason now TourneyLuck will NOT load hands, it just stalls at the 'Calculating new hands' window. No loading bar appears, I cannot close or do anything to the window. Vista 64

Something wrong with my SQL?

I just downloaded it, unzipped it and loaded it up...

But it has been "finding new pots" and loading for an hour now. I do have a pretty large database. How long does this generally take the first time?

Thanks.
