after upgrading to pt3 version 5.1 ----i had to register pt again ---no problem---but now before the start of pt i had to fill out a postgre sql password ----the default password from the pdf file doesnt work----i never changed any sql password ---pt doesnt start without the password ----WHAT SHALL I DO ?????

I'm trying everything to boost PT3 performance...
Currently using PT v3.00 build5.2 and PostgreSQL 8.3.
Vista Ultimate SP2 32-bit.

My question is should i upgrade to PostgreSQL 8.37 or 8.4 or i should leave it alone?

You will probably find a slight performance improvement by upgrading postgres but it's not huge - I don't have any figures, though.
Upgrading to 8.3.7 (or any 8.3 version) is pretty straightforward but if you upgrade to 8.4.x then you will need to backup your database in 8.3 and restore it in 8.4. (Database / Postgres FAQ)
PT3 appears to work fine with 8.4 although it hasn't been exhaustively tested yet.
