Hi.

I've just install PT3 and PostgreSQL 8.3 (manually from supplied with PT3 msi) and have problem with initial database creation.

So, I think I should try PSQL 8.4? If so, should I uninstall PT3 before doing this?

What error message are you receiving when you try to create the database?

"Unable to create PostregeSQL database: PT3 DB.

Reason: unable to login to database (template1). Reason: FATAL:
no PostgreSQL user name specified in startup packet."

That is. I can run psql console, but PT3 got this error.

How exactly did you install PostgreSQL? Did you enter your Postgres details in PT3? If so, did you remember to use the username postgres?

I've installed PostgreSQL from msi which is supplied with PT3 and located in folder where PT3 was installed.

PT3 didn't install database on firts run however. That's why I've done this manually.

Yes, I'm enter right port number, db username - 'postgres', and password. As I wrote earlier I can run psql console with this port, username and password.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling PostgreSQL as directed in this PDF and see if that fixes things for you.

So I read this pdf and removed PostgreSQL 8.3, installed 8.4.0.1 but this release didn't initialize cluster, so I've just remove it.

I totally removed Norton, UAC is already disabled on my system.

Then I installed 8.3 again from msi that supplied with PT3 distribution. I followed all steps from pdf even set default passwords, but I've got the same error.

I can connect to PostgreSQL through psql console, netstat -tn gave me this:

TCP [::1]:5432 [::1]:49247 ESTABLISHED InHost

Looks like that PostgreSQL working fine.
