SQL problem need help?

Postby 2Poker4forlife » Mon Aug 31, 2009 5:30 pm

I've got pokertracker3 B. 5.2 and haven't had any problems with sql till today. I started up PT and got a message saying "PokerTracker was unable to connect to any PostgreSQL Database. Please make sure you have PostgreSQL running" and I uninstalled SQL then was very worried I lost all my (player, hand historys, profit graph, ect.) I didn't unistall the whole program tho there is still a file left.

anyways I tried reinstalling and had 2 uncheck the Cluster installation cause it said "The specified data diretory is not empty."?? It said I dont need to initialize a database cluster. ok no problem I uncheck the box and It proceeds to install..

The installation gets about 85% complete and the gets stuck on "Creating user account...". and a random box popsup saying "User 'postgres' could not be created: The user account already exists.!" So what the heck do I do now??? plzz help I cant get it 2 install...

Well I did it step for step perfectly and this is the ERROR I got about 85% In the Installation. It's when the "Creating user account..." popsup But this time I got a new Error.

This time It reads: Error "Internal account lookup failure: No mapping between account names and security ID's was done"

Please help me this time No redirecting me 2 another account I'm doing Alot of typing here. What does this mean? I have Windows Vista I even disable me User account.

what am I doing wrong Why I'm tying 2 keep my Directory is that why I get this Error? I shouldn't be this Confusing!!!!

You need to fully uninstall postgres before you re-install it.
Your error suggests that you haven't removed the postgres user before re-installing. Please follow the guide carefully and if anything doesn't work stop and post here.

Ty sir for reply I've Uninstalled everything. I don't how my "user already exists" error popup? Is there more files I need 2 delete? I got rid of the software but I can't reinstall it for nothing....

I the only step I couldn't complete was the Commad: net user account /delete you remember that step? It could complete the command. But could that be my problem? how do i Delete my Old user account? I've never had so much trouble with a program in my life It shouldn't be this Difficult.....

That is exactly the command you need to complete.

Click Start, click Run, type in "cmd" and hit enter. This will bring up a command prompt. At the command prompt type "net user postgres /delete". This will delete the old postgres user. You can then reinstall PostgreSQL as normal.

If the above fails with a message "System Error 5. Access Denied", and you are in Windows XP, click Start --> Run. Type in C:\Windows\System32 and hit enter. Right click on cmd.exe and click "Run as Administrator". Then delete the postgres user per the directions above.

If you are in Windows Vista and receive this error message, hit the windows key, type 'cmd' and then press ctrl+shift+enter and then enter the "net user postgres /delete" command. Once the user is deleted, you can then install PostgreSQL.
