Are you able to connect to postgres using Start > Programs > Postgres > PGAdmin III?

The easiest way is likely to be to follow the directions in that guide to fully uninstall postgres (follow them carefully, postgres needs to be FULLY uninstalled before it will re-install properly) then run the PT3 Full installer which will install and configure postgres for you.

Yes, I can.

I already use this guide to FULLY uninstall PostgreSQL, and PT3 didn't install database for me, as it was in the fisrt time.

Then I install postrgres again, striclty following the guide, even set up default passwords.

What should I do? Uninstall postgres again, uninstall pt and install pt again? I've got tired with all this installations and uninstallations.

When I installed PT3 I've done all things as they described in documentation. What am I doing wrong?

...PT3 didn't install database for me, as it was in the fisrt time.

That doesn't make sense - that's exactly the time PT3 would install postgres for you.
Did it try to install postgres when you ran PT3?
Did that fail?

Anyway, if you can connect with PGAdmin it sounds like postgres is installed OK.
Are you running PT3 as administrator (you need to do this even if you have UAC turned off).
ATTENTION: Windows VISTA users, you must read this...

If you're still having problems you can schedule a remote assistance session where someone can logon to your computer with you and directly troubleshoot/resolve the issue.

That's the story:

I've download PT3 distributive, ran it, and it install only pt3, not postres. Then I've install postres manually from msi that supplied with pt3. I've got error. Completely uninstall postgres as it described in guide, delete folder with data and delete user 'postgres'.

Today I've installed postres again following the guide from doc section, with default passwords. And again got error.

I know about it. But when I launch pt3 from unpriviledged account with 'runas' or from admin account I've got the same error.

Anyway, I think I should give pt3 the last chance by uninstalling postgres and pt3 and installing it again.

I don't want any "remote sessions", sorry.

When we do a remote session you just do it via a browser - there is no need to install anything, and you can see everything that is done and take control of your computer again instantly by simply moving the mouse. It really is completely safe. There is also a live chat window so the person doing the session can talk to you and explain what they are doing if you like.

Anyway Kraada will be on again in a couple of hours and he knows more about the intricacies of installing postgres - he does most of the remote sessions now too.

I strongly recommend taking us up on the offer of a remote session. If you want to make sure that I personally do your remote session, just make sure you ask for me in your ticket and we will make sure that happens.

The other next step I could think of would be uninstalling PostgreSQL, removing the C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\ directory entirely (or just rename it to something else), and then reinstall and see if that error message recurs.

Also: are you always getting this exact same error? You only quoted it once but I just want to make sure the error message hasn't changed along the way.

First of all, I've made PT3 works.

I've uninstall both postgres (completely) and PT3 and from amin account install them again.

So, from admin account PT works just fine, but from non-admin account it produce the same error as earlier.

Yes, errors was the same in all cases.

So I'm pretty sure this is not postres or PT3 error but rather my OS wrongly configured.

Thank to your and others from this forum for your help.

Hey

I had some computer issues and had to reinstall PT3. I had to reinstall PostgreSQL as well. The software links to postgreSQL 8.2.7, but I can't find a mirror that works. I went to 8.3.5 and downloaded this file : postgresql-8.3.5-1.zip . It downloaded, but it will not install. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Can someone please help?
