Do you need to have postgres 8.2?
8.3 which comes with the PT3 "Full" installer will give better performance, or you could get the latest 8.3.x or 8.4.x from the postgres site.

If you need 8.2, then the 3rd one in the list looks like it's probably the one you want, and http will be easiest.

See the tutorial - How to reinstall Postgres for more info.

in the middle of downloading PostgreSQL I keep getting this error message three quarters of the way through:

Failed to run initdb: 1!
Please see the logfile in 'C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.3\tmp\initdb.log'.
Note! You must read/copy this logfile before you click OK, or it will be automatically removed.

I stupidly clicked ok. Any suggestions as to what I should do now?

Uncheck the "initialize database" checkbox when installing the PostgreSQL upgrade and that should fix it for you.
