Has there been a solution found for this problem? I have received the Windows 7 update DVD, but I don't want to install it until bugs experienced by upgraders have been fixed.

I'm not sure about this particular user, but I do know that several others have working installations on Win7.

I found the solution to my problem.

Maybe that is what all here have in common. I have Windows 7 and Kaspersky Antivirus 2010. This combination causes big problems with postgres and the biggest one is that it is not enough to deactivate it and terminate the process you have to deinstall it completely. I read this in another forum (not poker related). Even adding postgres to trusted applications won't help, so I'll use Norton Antivirus now.

Norton's latest releases have been a bit better than previous ones, but we still recommend AVG for antivirus (which, conveniently, is free).

I have Windows 7 x64 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 too. And I had the same error "Failed to initialize database cluster..." when I was installing PostgreSQL using one click installer. I tried to remove Kaspersky but that didn't help. Then I tried to install PostgreSQL using pgInstaller as recommended in manual: http://www.pokertracker.com/products/PT ... greSQL.pdf When I click "Next" in "Initialize database cluster" window the message "The 'Secondary Logon' service is not running. This service is reqired for the installer to initialize the database. Please start this service and try again" appears. What is the 'Secondary Logon' service and how to start it?

P.S. UAC is turned off and I've logged in as administrator.

Kaspersky is mentioned in our Firewall Guide so please read the recommendations there.

To start the secondary logon service go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services and you should find Seconday Logon in the list.
