Follow the linked directions completely - they will walk you through what you need to do so you won't get that error. We also recommend using the 8.3.8 version at this point in time.

If you kept your existing postgres 'data' folder then you should uncheck the 'initialize database cluster' option, as described in the guide.

But you have previously installed and uninstalled postgres, yes?
When you uninstalled, did you delete the whole postgres folder?
If not, you will need to uncheck that option - try that anyway and see if it will install.

Other than that, if you fully uninstall postgres (using the guide) then run the PT3 "full" installer it will install postgres for you.

Please schedule a remote assistance session where someone can logon to your computer with you and directly troubleshoot/resolve the issue.

Hi,

I have a very similar problem, and I can't seem to work it out whatever I try.

I use Windows 7. I'm trying to install postgres 8.3.16 and has previously installed 8.3.

I have previously had postgres and PT3 installed on my machine, but I didn't have enough space on my main partition, so I had to delete a partition on my HD to get enough space on my main partition. I don't remember if PT3 or postgres was installed on the partition that was erased, because it was like 6 months ago and i haven't been playing poker since.

I followed the guide on how to delete and reinstall postgres and I deleted everything. Now I get the "Failed to run initdb: 1! Pleaase see..." error message and it doesn't work if I uncheck "Initialize database cluster" either. I get told that "The specified data directory does not contain an existing database cluster. Installing witout initializing a database cluster in this case will produce an installation that will not start. Are you sure you want to continue without running initdb?" If I press "yes" it installs, but postgres doesn't start. If I try to start it manually a dataprompt just pops up and nothing happens.

Did anybody resolve this issue or should I get remote assistance?
