Suggestions for HoldemLuck/TourneyLuck v0.15

Postby TrayRacer » Sun Oct 04, 2009 10:53 am

First of all, let me join the chorus of those who apologize for posting things that have already been addressed; but this thread is fairly unmanageable after all – must be popular!

Secondly, I want to thanks Alon for this app, and also PT for hosting it. I find the app very useful, and the results very interesting. I always export the data to a spreadsheet to get the information I’m really looking for. I think with a few very minor tweaks the app can do everything I want without having to export.

    1. Show the graph raw, as opposed to cumulative. I’d rather see the trends of luck; over time the cumulative total of BB’s won or lost is too large to see any detail

    2. Provide some useful summary data. Here’s the information I show in my spreadsheet:

      • Percentage of time my Equity is greater than 50%, less than 50%, equal 50%
      • Percentage of time my Expected Result is positive, negative, zero
      • Percentage of time my Actual Result is positive, negative, zero
      • Percentage of time the Difference is positive, negative, zero
      • Percentage of time my Actual Result is positive when my Expected Result was positive (how often my lead held up)
      • Percentage of time my Actual Result is positive when my Expected Result was negative (how often I sucked out)
Here’s how I display the information:

    Code: Select all
    Equity    Expected   Result    Difference
    ------    --------   -------   ----------
    52.37%    2.89 BB    2.57 BB   -0.33 BB      Average
    54.66%     65.13%     53.81%    50.29%       % Positive      69.08%   % Held Up
    44.38%     34.73%     45.96%    46.62%       % Negative      25.39%   % Suckout
     0.97%       0.14%      0.24%     3.09%       % Tied

    4241 Samples

The most important things that this tells me are:

    • How often am I getting my chips in good vs. bad?
    • How often are my good hands holding up?
    • How often did I just get lucky by sucking out?

It would be fantastic if I could see this information without having to export to my spreadsheet.

Thanks for your consideration, and thanks for the app!

Can you tell me if this program stores any data or makes a postgres database? And if it does store it's own data instead of in postgres, can you tell me the default location?
thanks

This program creates the holdem_pot and tourney_holdem_pot tables in the database, which contain all of the information that HoldemLuck and TourneyLuck use.

I think that this is the most recent version that I've attached; you do need to be logged in to download it but I don't think there's anything else you need to do other than download unzip and run it.

This should be all you need, I think.

Love the product - thanks.

What is the ideal or what is the ideal relationship between the lines? IE. Red line on top; Blue on Top, Green in Middle; etc. The tabular data shows a lot of red ink. :( The chart below is only 7.5K hands and I am really just starting out. And of those hands only 58 AI's. (VP$IP 19; PFR 12; AF 4.5; W$WSD is around 48% ). The chart would seem to indicate I am the unluckiest SOB ever to have sat at a table? Admittedly, I get a lot of rough beats - but its early. I couldn't say all were bad beats, though some real shockers. Mainly curious about standards...

The blue line is what actually happened.

The green line is what would have happened had you been simply assigned your equity each time you went all in.

The red line is the difference between the two.

Ok, but other than a visual representation of 'what actually happened' , what other factors are implied by the graphic? Should red and green be divergent? And if not I am getting it all in with -EV? Which by the way is something I am working on - equity and am almost certainly not getting value for some hands and risking too much on others. Maybe should be asking these questions somewhere else - don't mean to hijack the thread...
