8.4.1 works fine if you want to use that, but we recommend that you use at least 8.3.3 which is currently included with the "Full" PT3 installer - we will be updating this soon, though, and if you are installing manually you should use at least 8.3.8.

We haven't seen any problems with 8.4.1 (and plenty of people are using it) so feel free to go for that, but to be absolutely sure 8.3.8 is definitely OK.

OK sorry for what may be a dumb question. How do I tell which version I have? When I go to it in my program files it just says 8.3 and nothing else. I have looked in the installation notes and every other folder in there and all I come up with is 8.3. What am I missing?
Thanks

Click Start --> Programs --> PostgreSQL --> psql to 'postgres'. At the prompt type:
SELECT version();

Thanks but all I get is: Password for user postgres:_
and it doesn't let me type anything.

I am doing a housecleaning now, is that what is stopping me?
I am trying to figure out a way to make the housecleaning go faster. I imported 300,00 hands and it took over 12 hours to import and houseclean. I left it run before I left for work and it was still running 11 hours later when I got home (doing the cache update). I have signed up for 80,000 hands a day for the next 2 weeks and I don't want it taking all day to import and houseclean cuz I'll never have a chance to use it when I play. I have a pretty new pc and over 90 gig of hard drive left but I only have 2 gig of ram right now. I shut down all other programs so only PT3 is running. I have also went to the postgres website and browsed but admit that most of it is way past me at this time. I'm trying to get "educated" in this but it is a lot to learn and right now I want to play poker if you know what I mean ;-)
Thanks Again

Type "dbpass" without the quotes and hit enter. You don't see text coming up as that's Postgres's way of masking your password (I agree it's a bit counterintuitive, but that's what's happening).

Once you enter the right password and hit enter you will be dropped to a command prompt at which point you can follow WhiteRider's instructions. Housekeeping will not keep you from logging into the database in this way.

Thank you, I have 8.3.4
Should I update to the latest version or at least 8.3.8?

You don't need to, but you will probably get a small performance improvement by updating.
Updating to 8.3.8 (or any 8.3.x version) is easy but updating to a new major version (8.3 to 8.4) requires you to backup and restore your database, so if you want to update I'd suggest 8.3.8 at the moment.
