the upgrade worked. and i deleted my old db.
But i have to import some tourney summaries from my gmail, but it doesn't wark anymore. it is configured correctly, but as soon as i select the emails needed and start it, pt3 immediately goes to "not responding". i tried restarting my pc, but it didn't help.
any advice?
yesterday i imported 1 to try and it worked. is it with the update ???

It shouldn't be. We've had a few people report problems like that but they said if they let it run long enough it did finish - try running the import overnight and see if it completes for you.

Should I see any issues with having my DB on my second drive along with part of my system's paging file? I have moved most of my paging file to my second drive for a performance increase.

If you're hitting the paging file that often, you probably want to consider adding more RAM to your system. The paging file should not be used that often while you're actively doing things in your system.

If the paging file is in use while the database is being read from it will cause a drop in performance, as both use hard drive resources, though I can't say exactly how much as I've never tested that myself.

No I have enough RAM (max), I just LOVE to optimize PC's and this is one of the tricks of the trade. I am actually going to move it back since I moved my DB to the new drive. I see about a 6 - 10sec decrease in access time now that the DB has been moved. I was just wondering if having the DB and part of my paging file on the same drive would be an issue. Thanks for the feedback.

But i have no "BACKUP" button in the database management in pt3

Downloaded the latest release V3 Build 5.2. There is no longer a 'back up button' on the database management dialog

Build 5.2 is not the latest release of PT3, Beta 30 is. You can find it on the download page.

Hi,

i have recently changed a new laptop and am intending to transfer my existing dbs (2 of them) on the old one to an external usb drive, which will store all db for pt3 thereafter. just got a few quick qns:

1. i intend to keep all db hereafter on the external drive, can i backup the existing db on the old com and restore it on the new laptop without having it written on the laptop HDD but on the external drive instead? if it is possible how do i go around doing it, any specific steps to take while installing pt3 and postgresql on the new laptop?

or will it be simpler to copy the processed HH from my pt3, create new db on the on the external drive and import it directly to the location?

2. will running active db on an external usb drive slow my hud or pt report in any way compared to running it on a local disk?

Thanks in advance

edit: will only be using the new laptop from here now, not intending to use external drive as hotswap db server, just saving local disk space on the laptop for all non-poker stuff.

(1) Yes you can do that; I would recommend using the Beta 30.1 backup function, then install PostgreSQL directly on the USB drive, then restore to the drive. That will probably be simplest.

(2) You might have some performance issues, though it depends on exactly how big of a database we're talking about.
