Does Housekeeping speed up the import process?

Postby DrewOnTilt » Sat Jan 02, 2010 8:19 pm

Does running the vaccum/cluster function speed up the manual hand import process? I regularly import large blocks of hand histories from the sites where data mining is not frowned upon. Lately the import process has been running at the pace of a snail. Should I be running the housekeeping after every 50k hands or so? Will that speed the process up?

Not significantly; importing into larger databases takes longer as PT3 needs to check to make sure the hands you're importing are from new sessions. If you haven't, though, you can look at Performance Tuning: PostgreSQL which can improve import time.
