does it usually take more than 5 minutes to find new pots?

i have a fast computer...dual, dual core 2g processors.

i'm just wondering if its working. lol.

No, you set up filters in HoldemLuck.

Yes, it takes a rather long time when you run for the first time. Holdem Luck can handle very large databases but Tourney Luck might break if you have a very large database. I haven't gotten around to making the changes supporting large DB's to Tourney Luck yet.

ok. what if i don't want HELuck to process all 300k of my database? i only want it to calculate between certain dates... or since certain dates?

i have to let it process all 300k hands and THEN change the filters?

do i have to have PT3 open when i run HeLuck?

edit... i'm using tourney luck not holdem luck.

Both apps calculate ALL the hands they find in the DB and calculate these hands and store the result in the database. When you run for the first time, it takes a very long time to go through all the hands. When you run it again, it only picks up new hands that were not calculated yet so it starts up much faster. Each time you change the filter, it doesn't need to calculate again since it's all in the DB already and it's very fast.

Hopefully, it'll handle your 300k hand database. If not, there's a couple of thing you can try because I don't have time to fix this right now.
1. Split up your database into smaller chunks. For example, I have my databases split into years. One database for each year. This is not only good for TourneyLuck but PT3 itself will be much more responsive with a smaller DB. You can do this by exporting all the hand histories for 2010 into one folder, all hands for 2009 into another folder etc and then creating a separate DB for each year and importing them. You would then keep the one database for 2010 as your active database.
2. If you really want all hands in the same DB, you can export all your hands somewhere and then import them into a clean database and import them in smaller chunks, like 50k at a time and refresh TourneyLuck in between chunks. I know this is a hassle, sorry. HoldemLuck already does something exactly like this when it scans database, looks at 50k hands chunks at a time but I haven't had time to make that change in TourneyLuck and it's a significant change. I don't play tourneys that much so it's never a big priority for me :)

Please don't nuke your original database unless you are sure you got it right. In fact, it would be a good idea to back up your database before you start this and it would probably not hurt to keep the original database around and periodicaly import new hands into it. For example, I have a database for each year but I also keep a master database that I import new hands into every few months.

great... thanks.

it worked perfect it did all 300k tourney hands with no problem and then i set up to do just since nov. 1 2009.

the filters in tourney luck are only for dates.

how do i set it up to just look at all in preflop situations? i do this through PT3???

so PT3 has to be open when you run tourney luck?

Glad it handled your DB OK. There are filters for Date, Site, Buyin and Table Type plus a way to configure preset blind level ranges. Look around the app, you'll find it...

ok so then this app cannot really be used to see how you are running then.

it only tells you if you're a donk getting all your money in bad.

cuz if you are a good player getting your money in ahead... the blue line is gonna be above the green line.

so this app has nothing to do with luck... only if you're getting it in ahead or not.

right?

it does not differentiate between when you are getting it in ahead and losing or when you are getting it in behind and losing.

right?

the 2nd pic is my last 20k hands where i think i'm getting screwed with AK vs AQ type situations and losing way to many flips. but i have no way to know if i'm running bad or just getting it in bad correct?

Here's how you read the graph:
The green line shows you if you're a donk on not (mostly, coolers can happen but they even out eventually too). If you're a competent player, you green line should generally be rising.
The blue line shows you the actual results. If you're lucky, the blue line will be above the green line so you won more than your were expected to given the equity you had. If you run bad, it'll be bellow the green line.
The red line shows the difference between the lines. Bellow zero, running bad, above zero, running good.

Keep in mind that in tourneys, a single hand in late stage of a large MTT can totally drown out thousands of hands played in early stages or SnG's so use the blind level filter to sort this out.

ok so i was just lucky for 270k hands?

so for 270k hands i was getting it in with the worst and getting lucky? or my AK was beating AQ more than it should? or my TT was beat AA more than it should?

what i'm after... is...

#1. an app that will show me the amount of time i got it in ahead and won or lost.

#2. the amount of times i got it all in behind and won or lost.

by looking at these graphs... i have no way to know either 1 or 2.

my blue is over my green line... so i was lucky and the green line went up showing i'm a competent player who just gets lucky?

in the 2nd graph my green line is still going up... showing i'm still a competent player... but the blue line is going down showing i'm either... getting all my money in good and losing... or getting all my money in bad and losing. how do i know the difference?

i apologize if i am completely missing something here. you've been very prompt in answering all my questions... much appreciated. but i'm either dense (which is possible) or the info provided by this app is foggy.
