Unable to connect to database

Unable to connect to database

My pokertracker 3 has recently started to deliver the following message - 'Unable to connect to database'.

In search of a solution I decided to update my postgreSQL and create a new database. This database is now linked to PT3 and PT3 now functions as it should.
Has my original DB been corrupted? If so do you have any advice as to how to avoid this in the future?

I attempted to export the hands from my old DB into my new one but again I get the following message - 'Unable to connect to database: PokerTracker 3 Database'.

I do not understand why PT3 suddenly cannot access my original DB.

What version of PostgreSQL did you upgrade from and to?

I upgraded from 8.2 to 8.39.

Do you have a backup of your 8.2.x database before upgrading? The 8.2.x data folder is incompatible with 8.3.x and you need to backup and restore your database to upgrade between those versions.

The reason I downloaded the latest version was because my PT3 was unable to read the old DB anymore - I'm not sure what changed???

As for the back up, I didn't create one before I created the new DB - is it possible to back it up and restore it at this stage?

To back up your old database you will need to re-install postgres 8.2 - different major versions cannot read databases from other major versions (8.x to 8.y).
If you still have your original hand history files in the PokerTracker 3\Processed folder you will probably find it easier to just do a Manual Import of that folder to your new database.
