Is there a reason you're trying to get version 8.2.7?

If this is a fresh install with no data on the machine in question, get 8.4.2, available here. The only time it matters is if you have a data directory that you want to use (not a backup file an actual data directory - backups can be restored to any version).

I'm also trying to install PT3 within Windows 7. As the SQL-stuff Vista link didn't work i tried to download the "here" link above instead. First i got a dialouge field where i had to write password, i typed in dbpass twice (was that right?). Now they tell me to write what port to listen to and the default value is 5432 and I have no idea what to do.

Aren't there any easier way to get PT3 installed within Windows 7?

That's fine if you just keep clicking next the defaults should work and install things for you properly.

I did this. When I now try to stat PT3 for the first time a dialouge box is shown. It says:
Server: localhost Database User: postgres
Port: 5432 Password: dbpass

I click connect, cause I don't know what else to do. Then a box with the text:

Unalbe to connect to this database. Please check the configuration.

What to do?

Are you running PT3 as Administrator? If not, try closing it down and starting it again as Administrator and that should fix things.
