"The installation failed."

I'm trying to upgrade my OS X PT3 to 30.8, and at the end of the process, the installer returns a "the installation failed" error, with no further explanation. What steps can I take to fix this? Is there a log file that will show what the specific error is?

Are you using an Administrator account? You need the appropriate privileges in order to finish the OS X install.

Try verifying and repairing permissions in Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities -> Disk Utility) and running the installer again and see if that helps.

I did that, and it still won't install. Same error.

Never mind. The permissions on the PT3 app were set incorrectly. Once I set them manually, I was able to do it manually.
