install postgresql 8.3.9-1

Postby Skipjack » Sat Mar 20, 2010 9:14 am

When I try to install the upgrade it says port 5432 is in use, please specify another. I think its in use by the older version, do I need to uninstall it first? I tried the upgrade option, but cant because I am running 8.2x. I am running windows XP, PT3 v3 beta 30.8. I am trying to get HUD to work for rush tables. What to do? Thanks

Set it to use port 5433 and everything should work properly (just remember to put in port 5433 when you start up PT3).

I got it to install, didnt need to specify another port this time (?)...HUD still wont display although the little PT3 grey square appears. When I look at PT3 database management is says PostgreSQL v8.2.1. What now? Thanks

That means that you are still using 8.2.1.
If you install 8.3 to a different port you will be able to connect to it on that port.

Do you have any databases in PostgreSQL 8.2?

In order to upgrade from 8.2 to any 8.3 version you'd need to backup your 8.2 database first, then after installing 8.3 you'd need to restore the backup to the 8.3 version. For details on how to backup and restore your database manually please see this FAQ.

I backed up the database using PT3, when I click restore it recommends upgrading to 8.3 before using backup/restore....then it asks which files to restore

I'm not certain whether the backup functions work properly in 8.2 . . . if you put in your backup file, will it restore into 8.3?
