Problem connecting to Database

Postby djhavok101 » Sun Aug 29, 2010 9:52 am

Ever since I updated to the new beta, I have had problems connecting to the postgres database. I keep getting Error connecting to the default database. I have to manually start it under run. Then services.msc that I saw in another post. I do have an old version of holdem manager. But, don't use it much. Is this a problem with the new beta, or am I missing some type of postgres updgrade. Please help. Thanks

Just to clarify: once you start PostgreSQL, everything works properly?

no at first it started and worked with some problems. now I can't get it to start at all. It keeps stopping. And when I connect, I can download hands. But, I can't see the results. Not sure what is going on.

Click Start --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Event Viewer. In the top left pane look at the Application logs and look any errors in the top middle pane relating to PostgreSQL - if you find any, please paste the error text here as that will help (and if you don't see any that will be an important clue as well).

Too late. I completely reinstalled everything after fighting with it for a couple of hours. Now my problem is I can't reinstall postgres. Yes I followed your directions in the how to files. But, I can't seem to get past put in the user password svcPASS83 when I get to that point. I tried the whole run cmd command prompt to delete postgres. But, that doesn't seem to work. Now what to do?

Did you get that command to work? You need to delete the postgres user before you can re-install.
The guide on how to reinstall PostgreSQL in the Documentation takes you through every step - be sure to read it carefully as it is all important.
Is there a reason that you need to install 8.2?

I've had the same problem since the update. Here is the error text from the Event Viewer:

0 PostgreSQL Application 2 3 3 7
