i followed all the steps at http://www.pokertracker.com/products/PT ... greSQL.pdf

i did uninstall and reinstall so many times i could write the same pdf blindfolded.

i have spent HOURS uninstalling and reinstalling over and over and over and over again.

i give up for a month and then come back and spend hours and hours and hours again and again over and over.

i do everything correct other than getting it to work.

i bought pt3 in jan of 2010 i had it working when i first got it and now it doesnt work.

i deleted everything tried to just start from scratch and still doesnt work.

PostgreSQL i tried to install it gets froze in the install while trying to start server. says it can not connect verify if have privileges.

i use vista

i disabled UAC

i disable firewall

i turn off windows defender

i mean i am ready to run this computer in dos mode to get this to work!

i read for hours and hours about people that have same problem and they always somehow fix it and get it working again but not me!

what am i doing wrong. i do not want to have someone take control of my computer. i am missing something here?

wow i hate postgreSQL

do i have to uninstall PT3 before uninstalling and reinstalling PostgreSQL

is there some type of dumb order like this that i have to follow?

i am trying to use 8.3.12-1 PostgreSQL should i be using a different one for vista?

okay once again i did the uninstall this time i am trying 8.2 ( i also uninstalled PT3 before the start on this one)

and everything went fine in the uninstall...

the reinstall just like on 8.3 gets stuck at "Starting services"

it says "Service 'PostgreSQL Database Server 8.2' (pgsql-8.2) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

"Retry or Cancel"

if i do "Retry" it makes me wait 5-10 mins while it retries and then same responce.
if i do "Cancel" it all rolls back and i have to uninstall everything that it started to install.

Something is forcibly stopping it from working. Without being logged into the machine and looking at it, it's tough to say. From your description, I don't have an easy suggestion.

You are welcome to ask the PostgreSQL developers for assistance on their website, it's possible they will be of further assistance.

Just a shot in the dark, but Windows Defender has been responsible for more computer problems that the worst virus ever created... I would recommend uninstalling Defender completely with something like Revo Uninstaller.
