beta8 wine HUD

Postby BatsShadow » Wed Apr 16, 2008 7:18 am

For me, the HUD only partially works in linux/wine. The stats draw, and I can move the stat boxes around, but when I click the little hud button nothing happens. Well, actually something does happen. There is a little flicker. It looks like the popup menu is trying to draw and then immediately getting drawn over.

Anyone else have any success?

This has been reported by others. It's a simple popup menu, so there's unfortuntely nothing I can do from my end to resolve this particular issue.

Can you explain how it's supposed to work or point me toward the relevant documentation? I can't find anything about the HUD in the docs.

Can you be more specific? Are you referring to the menu or something else?

The menu.
In the meantime, I guess I'm going to look into trying cross over and the other wine based products.

Josh,

I tried Crossover, and though some other things work better (I never realized that the auto-import status box was completely missing in wine), the HUD menu still does not work. I have a few thoughts/questions:

1) You mentioned something about implementing the HUD differently and more efficiently in the next beta. Is the newer version implemented in some way that may cause this menu to start working?

2) I know you have no intentions of supporting a wine version at first, but how hard would it be to add some other method to trigger the stats editing? So far, this is the only show-stopper feature issue I've had with wine. Having a work around available would probably enable you to advertise wine/crossover support right away.

3) Just for my own curiosity, are the stats running as their own process? I notice that they focus separately from PokerStars, but I can't tell if they are windows of the main PT process.

1. The menu hasn't changed.

2. We have something up our sleeves.

3. They are in the same process as PT3.

Josh,

I appreciate the HUD configuration menu that you added in beta10, but I still have no way of controlling where the stat windows go. I can drag them around, but I believe there is supposed to be a menu item to save positioning...can you add that to the other window too? Thanks.

What other window?
To save layouts click PT-icon -> Save Layout.

See the top of the thread. The PT menu doesn't work in wine. I believe the HUD stat configuration options were added to the main PT window under Configure->Configure HUD, but the rest of the PT menu options were not.
