Problems with PostgreSQL

Postby Hopefull » Tue Feb 08, 2011 10:49 am

Hi

I have used PT for about 5 years now, but for a few days ago i downloaded Hold'em Manager because the HUD in PT3 won't work when I play tournaments on Ongame, Boss and Microgamming. HEM do not have problems with their HUD on those networks.

But I still want to use PT3 when I play tournaments on PokerStars and PartyPoker. But before I installed HEM, I uninstalled PostgreSQl 8.3 on my computer (the version I used with PT3) because PostgreSQL 8.4 would be installed on my computer together with HEM. But now I can't open PT3 normally.

How can I get PT3 to connect with the new PostgreSQl 8.4, so I can use PT3 again?

If you want to continue using the database that you had, you'll need to reinstall 8.3 and backup that database, then you can uninstall 8.3, install 8.4 and restore the database into 8.4 and it will function properly there. For more on backing up and restoring please see the Tutorial: Backup and Restore.

You only show me links how make back up... why?

How do I do all the other things?

As I wrote, ... I have 8.4 on my computer allready - it was included in HEM.

Because your PT3 database is in 8.3 - if you just want to start a new database for PT3 in your 8.4 PostgreSQL version you can do so, but your previous database cannot be moved into 8.4 without using the backup and restore system due to the manner in which PostgreSQL stores its databases.

OK. But how do I reinstall 8.3?

Please see our uninstall and reinstall guide available on our http://www.pokertracker.com/products/PT3/docs/ documentation page for an explanation.

might be too late but if you are OK with losing your notes, you might find it easier to just install 8.4 and reimport all hands from your HH folder.
