Unable to start up PT3

Postby lilpiggy » Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:28 am

This is my first time to use any tracking software.

I'm getting this message when I try to start up -

Configure PostgreSQL Server
Server: localhost Database user: postgres
Port: 5432 Password: dbpass

I click on the "Connect" button and get an error mesage:

Unable to Connect
Unable to connect to this database. Please check the configuration.

I've tried to start PostgreSQL by going to services.msc and get this message -

Windows could not start the postgresql-8.4 service on local computer.
Error 1053: the service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

Can someone help?

When PostgreSQL won't start that can often be a firewall issue, so please check our Firewall Guide.

Did you install PostgreSQL manually? Did you already have it installed, and do you have any existing databases?
If you do not have any databases, and your firewall is setup correctly, you could try reinstalling PostgreSQL as described in the guide in the Documentation.

Yes. No. No.

I've tried reinstalling, it's still not working.

Do you see any errors in the most recent file in the C:\Program Files (x86)\PostgreSQL\8.4\data\pg_log directory? If so, could you paste them here?
