MAC: No Install of PostgreSQL

Postby mivara » Sat Mar 19, 2011 7:21 am

I just downloaded the Mac compatible version of PT3 but I cannot get it to work. I entered my registration code which works but when I open PT3 after that it wants me to type in the password for PostgreSQL. According to the QST* I should be shown a box where I could install PostgreSQL. It looks like it is already installed on my computer. How can that be so? I had PT3 installed a long time ago on a Windows-based computer where I had a PostgreSQL-database but afaik that database isn't set up with my registration code / account. Is it? What can I do? Right now I can either type the password wrong (as if I can remember it anyhow) or press cancel and then quit PT3.

What are my options? This sucks. I just returned to PT3 from HEM due to the fact that it works in Snow Leopard.

If you're using the same PostgreSQL installation as HEM was using try the password "postgrespass".
Otherwise, if you're not using PostgreSQL for anything else on this computer you'll probably find it easiest to fully uninstall and reinstall it. You can find directions for that here.
If you need to keep your existing password you can remove the need for PostgreSQL passwords: How To: Remove PostgreSQL Password (Windows directions, but the changes are basically the same on Mac).
