install problem with postgress 9.0

i r3member when i first tried to install postgres on my computer i couldn't install version 8.3 even though it was releeased, there was something weird with my computer that made it so, i had to get some guy from postgres to look via teamview and he sent ages goin through my entire computer trying to configure 8.3 and couldnt, then spent a while anfd finally got 8.2 on it, now i am literally in exactly the same positon, neither version of postgres will install and i have no idea what to do, i desperately need this fixing asap i will pay someone to come and sort out this shitty mess - for gods sake someone make postgres user friendly please
